These objects are born from an exploration of the Alessi and C.P. Company archives. Pure and technical forms unite Richard Sapper’s 9090 espresso maker, Enzo Mari’s Arran tray, and Jean Nouvel’s cups, here reinterpreted with a black PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) finish, executed after manual sandblasting. This coating, which involves depositing an ultra-thin layer of metal onto the surface, is a tribute to C.P. Company’s textile tradition transposed onto metal: by evolving over time, it generates a patina that enhances the material character and uniqueness of the object.
Alessi C.P. Company
“Visiting Alessi, I understood everything: what lies behind our products is incredibly similar; we share a wealth of analogies, a common matrix.” — Lorenzo Osti The Alessi - C.P. Company collection reveals a tapestry of affinities between iconic Italian design houses. Despite the distance between product categories and raw materials, the vision is specular: research and experimentation are the driving forces for both. Whether in the metal workshop or the textile chemistry lab, innovation is born from an incessant process of trial and error that has generated two historical archives from which the companies still draw today, transforming them into living tools of creation. A collection that celebrates design culture, where technique meets emotion in a continuous dialogue between matter, design, and the avant-garde.
